Captain James Farquharson1

     Captain James Farquharson was the son of Admiral Sir John Lockhart Ross of Balingowan and Carstairs, 6th Bt.1 He married Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld, daughter of James Farquharson of Invercauld and Amelia Murray, on 16 June 1799.1 He died on 5 February 1809.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 His name was legally changed to James Farquharson.1 He was given the name of James Ross at birth.1

     Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld was born on 4 May 1774.1 She was the daughter of James Farquharson of Invercauld and Amelia Murray.2 She married Captain James Farquharson, son of Admiral Sir John Lockhart Ross of Balingowan and Carstairs, 6th Bt., on 16 June 1799.1 She died on 27 February 1845 at age 70.1
     She was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated her arms at the Lyons Court in 1815.1

     James Farquharson of Invercauld was born on 25 April 1808.2 He was the son of Captain James Farquharson and Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld.2 He married Janet Hamilton Dundas, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Francis Dundas and Eliza Cumming, on 30 April 1833.2 He died on 20 November 1862 at age 54.2
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2

Amelia Farquharson1

     Amelia Farquharson was the daughter of Captain James Farquharson and Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld.2 She married Sir Francis Grant, son of Francis Grant and Anne Oliphant, on 19 April 1826.1 She died in 1827, in childbirth.3
     From 19 April 1826, her married name became Grant.

     Sir Francis Grant was born on 18 January 1803 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He was the son of Francis Grant and Anne Oliphant.2 He married, firstly, Amelia Farquharson, daughter of Captain James Farquharson and Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld, on 19 April 1826.1 He married, secondly, Jane Isabella Elizabeth Norman, daughter of Richard Norman and Lady Elizabeth Isabella Manners, in 1829.2 He died on 5 October 1878 at age 75 at The Lodge, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England.2
     He held the office of President of the Royal Academy between 1866 and 1878.1 He lived at The Lodge, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, EnglandG.1

     Janet Hamilton Dundas was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Francis Dundas and Eliza Cumming.2,3 She married James Farquharson of Invercauld, son of Captain James Farquharson and Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld, on 30 April 1833.1 She died on 2 August 1869.1
     From 30 April 1833, her married name became Farquharson.
