     Lt.-Gen. Reynoud Diederik Jacob van Reede, 7th Earl of Athlone was born on 24 July 1773 at Utrecht, The Netherlands.1 He was the son of Frederik Christiaan Reinhart van Reede, 5th Earl of Athlone and Anna Elisabeth Christina van Tuyll van Serooskerken.1 He married Henrietta Dorothea Maria Hope, daughter of John Williams Hope and Anne Goddard, on 19 March 1818 at British Embassy, Paris, France.1 He died on 31 October 1823 at age 50 at The Hague, The Netherlands, from apoplexy.1 His will was probated in February 1824.1
     Lt.-Gen. Reynoud Diederik Jacob van Reede, 7th Earl of Athlone was also known as Reinnaud Diedrich Jacob Ginkel. He gained the rank of Major on 28 January 1808.1 He succeeded to the title of 7th Baron of Aghrim, co. Galway [I., 1692] on 5 December 1810.1 He succeeded to the title of 7th Earl of Athlone, co. Roscommon [I., 1692] on 5 December 1810.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General on 4 June 1814.1
