Henrietta Dorothea Maria Hope was the daughter of John Williams Hope and Anne Goddard.1 She married, firstly, Lt.-Gen. Reynoud Diederik Jacob van Reede, 7th Earl of Athlone, son of Frederik Christiaan Reinhart van Reede, 5th Earl of Athlone and Anna Elisabeth Christina van Tuyll van Serooskerken, on 19 March 1818 at British Embassy, Paris, France.1 She married, secondly, William Gambier, son of Sir James Gambier, on 4 May 1825 at Great Cumberland Street, London, England.1 She died on 3 September 1830 at London, England.1 She died intestate and her estate was administered in November 1830.1
As a result of her marriage, Henrietta Dorothea Maria Hope was styled as Countess of Athlone on 19 March 1818. From 19 March 1818, her married name became van Reede.1 From 4 May 1825, her married name became Gambier.1
