Captain John Vansittart Danvers Butler, 6th Earl of Lanesborough was born on 18 April 1839. He was the son of Captain Charles Augustus Butler-Danvers and Letitia Rudyard Ross Freese. He married Anne Elizabeth Clark, daughter of Reverend John Dixon Clark, on 21 June 1864. He died on 12 September 1905 at age 66.
