John Prendergast Vereker, 3rd Viscount Gort was born on 1 July 1790.2 He was the son of Charles Vereker, 2nd Viscount Gort and Jane Westropp.1 He married, firstly, Hon. Maria O'Grady, daughter of Standish O'Grady, 1st Viscount Guillamore and Katharine Waller, on 15 December 1814.2 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Mary Jones, daughter of John Jones, on 10 June 1861.3 He died on 20 October 1865 at age 75.3
John Prendergast Vereker, 3rd Viscount Gort was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Limerick between 1817 and 1820.2 He held the office of Mayor of Limerick between 1831 and 1832.2 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Viscount Gort, co. Galway [I., 1816] on 11 November 1842.2 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baron Kiltarton of Gort, co. John Gage Prendergast Vereker, 5th Viscount Gort was born on 28 January 1849.2 He was the son of Standish Prendergast Vereker, 4th Viscount Gort and Hon. Caroline Harriet Gage.1 He married Eleanor Surtees, daughter of Robert Smith Surtees, on 28 January 1885.2 He died on 15 August 1902 at age 53.2
