     Sir John Geers Cotterell, 1st Bt. was born on 21 September 1757.1 He was the son of Sir John Brookes-Cotterell and Anne Geers.1 He married Frances Isabella Evans, daughter of Henry Michael Evans, on 4 January 1791.1 He died on 26 January 1845 at age 87.1
     Sir John Geers Cotterell, 1st Bt. gained the rank of Colonel in 1796 in the service of the Herefordshire Militia.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Herefordshire between 1804 and 1831.1 He was created 1st Baronet Cotterell, of Garnons, Herefordshire [U.K.] on 2 November 1805.1

     Frances Isabella Evans was the daughter of Henry Michael Evans.1 She married Sir John Geers Cotterell, 1st Bt., son of Sir John Brookes-Cotterell and Anne Geers, on 4 January 1791.1 She died on 3 July 1813.1
     Her married name became Cotterell.
