     Maj.-Gen. Sir Harry Reginald Walter Marriott Smith was born on 1 August 1875.1 He was the son of Colonel Walter William Marriott Smith and Alice Mary Ley.2 He married Dorothy Herbert Smith, daughter of H. Herbert Smith, on 12 September 1906.1 He died on 3 November 1955 at age 80, without issue.1
     He fought in the Nile Expedition in 1898.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded twice and was mentioned in dispatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.1 He was Deputy Director of Armaments, India between 1919 and 1923.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1928.1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V between 1930 and 1932.1 He was President of the Ordnance Committee in 1934.1 He was Governor in 1935 at Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire, England.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dorset in 1938.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1942.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Artillery.1

     From 1864, her married name became Forster.1

     Henrietta Rose Marriott Smith was the daughter of Colonel Walter William Marriott Smith and Alice Mary Ley.2 She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. Frederick John Stewart Cleeve, son of Colonel S. A. Cleeve, on 21 April 1903.1 She and Lt.-Col. Frederick John Stewart Cleeve were divorced in 1908.1 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Philip Walter Beresford Henning in 1909.1 She died on 19 October 1961.1
     From 21 April 1903, her married name became Cleeve. From 1909, her married name became Henning.1

     Lt.-Col. Frederick John Stewart Cleeve was the son of Colonel S. A. Cleeve.2 He married Henrietta Rose Marriott Smith, daughter of Colonel Walter William Marriott Smith and Alice Mary Ley, on 21 April 1903.1 He and Henrietta Rose Marriott Smith were divorced in 1908.1 He died in 1916.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Field Artillery.1
