     Sir George Beresford Butler was born on 31 January 1857.¹ He was the son of Antoine Sloet Butler and Mary Matilda Beresford.² He married Georgina Rose Mary Walker, daughter of Captain Charles Walker, on 9 July 1896.¹ He died on 1 September 1924 at age 67.¹
     Sir George Beresford Butler held the office of Resident Magistrate (R.M.) for Queen's County between 1889 and 1921.¹ He was invested as a Knight in 1922.¹ He lived at Island View, Clifden, County Galway, Ireland.¹

     Antoine Sloet Butler was born on 11 October 1823.¹ He was the son of Sir Thomas Butler, 8th Bt. and Frances Clarke.¹ He married, firstly, Mary Matilda Beresford, daughter of Reverend George Hamilton Le Poer Beresford and Elizabeth Nisbet, in September 1854.¹ He married, secondly, Eliza Stevenson, daughter of Reverend J. Stevenson, on 29 April 1875.¹ He died on 25 December 1901 at age 78.¹
     Antoine Sloet Butler gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 7th Dragoon Guards.¹ He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.).¹ He held the office of Divisional Magistrate [Ireland] between 1883 and 1888.¹
