     Gilbert Thompson was born on 22 June 1877.1 He was the son of Reginald Thompson and Frances Harriet Royds.2 He married Ethel Isabella Wyvill, daughter of Marmaduke D'Arcy Wyvill, on 7 June 1906.1 He died on 24 February 1915 at age 37, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Connaught Rangers.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches twice.1

     From 7 June 1906, her married name became Thompson.

     Major Christopher Smith Byrom Thompson-Royds was born on 19 April 1907.1 He was the son of Gilbert Thompson and Ethel Isabella Wyvill.2 He married Yolande Anne Hodgson, daughter of Arthur Thomas Hodgson, on 17 October 1936.1 He died on 29 August 1967 at age 60.1
     He was given the name of Christopher Smith Byrom Thompson at birth.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 In 1936 his name was legally changed to Christopher Smith Byrom Thompson-Royds by Royal Licence.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Scots Fusiliers.1
