Arthur Michael Cosmo Bertie and Aline Rose Arbuthnot-Leslie.1 He married Norah Elizabeth Farquhar-Oliver, daughter of Mark Farquhar-Oliver and Norah Frances Sapphire Farquhar, on 5 January 1957.1
He was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Norfolk Regiment.1 He was a Lloyd's broker between 1958 and 1996.1 He held the office of High Steward of Abingdon in 1963.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Earl of Abingdon, Berkshire [E., 1682] on 11 September 1963. He succeeded to the title of 13th Lord Norris [E., 1572] on 11 September 1963.2 He succeeded to the title of 14th Earl of Lindsey, co.
