     Janet Balfour is the daughter of unknown Balfour of Ballo.¹ She married Martin Balfour of Lawlethan.¹

     Sir James Ramsay, 1st Bt. was born circa 1618.¹ He married Anne Baird, daughter of James Baird and Bethia Dempster.¹ He died in 1674.¹
     He gained the title of 1st Baronet Ramsay, of Whitehill.

     Anne Baird was the daughter of James Baird and Bethia Dempster.¹ She married Sir James Ramsay, 1st Bt.¹ She died in 1680.¹
     Her married name became Ramsay.¹

     Eglantyne Katherine Fordyce was the daughter of John Fordyce of Ayton and Catharine Maxwell.^1,2 She married Lt.-Gen. Robert Balfour, 6th of Balbirnie, son of John Balfour, 5th of Balbirnie and Ellen Gordon, on 8 August 1808.¹ She died on 9 January 1851.¹
     From 8 August 1808, her married name became Balfour.¹

     John Fordyce of Ayton was born in 1735.² He married Catharine Maxwell, daughter of Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 3rd Bt. and Magdalen Blair, on 28 January 1767.³ He died in 1809.²
     He lived at Ayton, Berwickshire, Scotland.³ He was Receiver-General of land tax for Scotland.³ He was Commissioner of Lands and Forests of Scotland.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for New Romney between 1796 and 1802.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Berwick-upon-Tweed between 1802 and 5 April 1803.²

     Katherine Jane Balfour was born in 1812.¹ She was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Robert Balfour, 6th of Balbirnie and Eglantyne Katherine Fordyce.¹ She married Edward Ellice, son of Rt. Hon. Edward Ellice and Lady Hannah Althea Grey, on 15 July 1834.¹ She died on 13 April 1864.¹
     From 15 July 1834, her married name became Ellice.¹

     Edward Ellice was born on 19 August 1810.¹ He was the son of Rt. Hon. Edward Ellice and Lady Hannah Althea Grey.¹ He married, firstly, Katherine Jane Balfour, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Robert Balfour, 6th of Balbirnie and Eglantyne Katherine Fordyce, on 15 July 1834.¹ He married, secondly, Eliza Stewart Hagart of Bantaskine, daughter of Thomas Campbell Hagart and Elizabeth Stewart, in 1867.¹ He died on 2 August 1880 at age 69.¹
