     Reverend John Massy-Dawson was the son of James Hewitt Massy-Dawson and Eliza Jane Dennis.1 He died on 8 October 1850.1
     He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1828 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1835 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Rector between 1835 and 1850 at Abinger, Surrey, England.1

     He gained the rank of Captain in 1887 in the Indian Army.2 He fought in the Waziristan Expedition between 1894 and 1895.2 He fought in the Boxer Rebellion between 1900 and 1901.2 He fought in the First World War.2 He was commander of the 36 (Ulster) Division between 1914 and 1915.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1
