     Sir Edward Hales, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir Edward Hales, 2nd Bt. and Ann Wotton. He married Frances Windebank, daughter of Sir Francis Windebank.1 He died in 1695.1
     He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He held the office of Lord of the Admiralty.1 He gained the title of 3rd Baronet Hales. He gained the rank of Colonel on 28 November 1673 in the Foot Regiment at Hackington, Kent.1 He was created 1st Earl of Tenterden, in Kent [England] on 3 May 1692, Jacobite. He was created 1st Baron Hales of Emley [England] on 3 May 1692, Jacobite.

     Sir Edward Hales, 1st Bt. was born circa 1577.1 He was the son of William Hales and Elizabeth Johnson.1 He married, firstly, Deborah Harlackenden, daughter of Martin Harlackenden, circa 1602.1 He married, secondly, Martha Carew, daughter of Sir Matthew Carew and Alice Rivers, on 27 November 1616.1 He died on 6 October 1654.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent between 1601 and 1643.1 He was appointed Knight in 1603.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hastings in 1605.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Kent in 1608/9.1 He was created 1st Baronet Hales [England] on 29 June 1611.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hastings in 1614.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Queenborough in 1625.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kent in 1626.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Queenborough between 1640 and 1648.1
