Major Hon. Christopher William Lowther was born on 18 January 1887. He was the son of James William Lowther, 1st Viscount Ullwater and Mary Frances Beresford-Hope. He married, firstly, Ina Marjorie Gwendolin Pelly, daughter of Rev. Canon Raymond Percy Pelly, on 17 June 1910.1 He and Ina Marjorie Gwendolin Pelly were divorced in 1921. He married, secondly, Dorothy Bromley-Davenport, daughter of Arthur Henry Bromley-Davenport, on 16 February 1921. He died on 7 January 1935 at age 47.
