Bernard III Kurfürst von Sachsen was born in 1140. He was the son of Albrecht I Markgraf von Brandenburg. He married, thirdly, Judith of Poland, daughter of Mieszko III, Duke of Poland and Elisabeth Arpád.1 He married, firstly, Brigitte (?), daughter of Knud III Magnuson, King of Denmark.1 He married, secondly, Sophia von Thuringe, daughter of Ludwig II Landgraf von Thuringe.1 He died on 2 February 1212.1

Edmund Beckett, 1st Baron Grimthorpe was born on 12 May 1816.2 He was the son of Sir Edmund Beckett, 4th Bt. and Maria Beverley.2,3 He married Fanny Catherine Lonsdale, daughter of Rt. Rev. John Lonsdale and Sophia Boland, on 7 October 1845.4 He died on 29 April 1905 at age 88, without issue.4
He was given the name of Edmund Beckett-Denison at birth.4 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.4 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1838 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).4 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1841 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).4 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1841 entitled to practice as a barrister.4 He was invested as a Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1854.4 He held the office of Bencher of Lincon's Inn in 1854.4 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1863.4 He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Beckett, of Leeds, co. Yorks and Somerby Park, Gainsboorugh, co. Lincoln [U.K., 1813] on 24 May 1874.2 On 24 May 1874 his name was legally changed to Edmund Beckett on succeeding his father.4 He held the office of Treasurer of Lincoln's Inn in 1876.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the West Riding of Yorkshire.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hertfordshire.4 He was Chancellor and Vicar-General of York between 1877 and 1900.4 He was created 1st Baron Grimthorpe, of Grimthorpe, in the East Riding, co. York [U.K.] on 17 February 1886, with a special remainder to the heirs male of his father.2
