Algernon Percy, 4th Duke of Northumberland was born on 15 December 1797. He was the son of General Hugh Percy, 2nd Duke of Northumberland and Frances Julia Burrell. He married Lady Eleanor Grosvenor, daughter of Richard Grosvenor, 2nd Marquess of Westminster and Lady Elizabeth Mary Leveson-Gower, on 25 August 1842. He died on 12 February 1865 at age 67.

He married, firstly, Henrietta Turner on 11 July 1839. He married, secondly, Lady Mary Francis Grosvenor, daughter of Richard Grosvenor, 2nd Marquess of Westminster and Lady Elizabeth Mary Leveson-Gower, on 25 August 1842. He died on 24 July 1896 at age 85.
