     He emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., arriving on 1821.2 He founded Persse and Brooks Ltd, paper manufacturers (with his attorney Horace Brooks).2 In 1857 the Company refloated as Persse and Brooks Paper Works (with capital of $450,000).2
