     Margaret Agnew was the daughter of Patrick Agnew of Lochnaw and Katherine Gordon.1 She married William Cairnis of Orchardton, son of John Cairnis of Cults and Orchardton.1
     Her married name became Cairnis.2

     William Cairnis of Orchardton was the son of John Cairnis of Cults and Orchardton.1 He married Margaret Agnew, daughter of Patrick Agnew of Lochnaw and Katherine Gordon.2 He died in 1555.1
     In 1527 he was called to Parliament as a minor Baron.1 He lived at Orchardton, Scotland.2

     Sir Alexander Stewart of Garlies was the son of Sir Alexander Stewart of Garlies and Margaret Dunbar.2 He married Catherine Herries, daughter of William Herries, 3rd Lord Herries of Terregles and Catherine Kennedy.2 He died in 1571 at Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland, killed by Mary, Queen of Scots supporters, in a raid.3
     Sir Alexander Stewart of Garlies was Commissioner for the Kirk of Nithsdale.2 He lived at Garlies, Scotland.1 He was invested as a Knight in 1565.2
