Sir James Carmichael, 2nd Earl of Hyndford and Lady Elizabeth Maitland, on 24 January 1716/17 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.² He died on 21 September 1753 at Elie House, Elie, Fife, Scotland.² He was buried at Elie Church, Elie, Fife, Scotland.² His will (dated 18 August 1746) was probated on 28 August 1754.²

Fife [Nova Scotia] on 6 January 1700.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Anstruther-Easter Burghs [Scotland] between 1702 and 1707.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Anstruther-Easter Burghs between 1708 and 1711.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Anstruther-Easter Burghs between 1713 and 1715.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Fifeshire between 1715 and 1741.² He held the office of Master of the Works [Scotland] on 16 July 1717.²
