Sir William Anstruther was the son of Sir Philip Anstruther and Christian Lumsden.1 He married Lady Helen Hamilton, daughter of John Hamilton, 4th Earl of Haddington, in 1677.2 He died on 24 January 1711.1

Sir John Anstruther of Anstruther, 1st Bt. was born in 1678.2 He was also reported to have been born in 1673.3 He was the son of Sir William Anstruther and Lady Helen Hamilton.1,2 He married Lady Margaret Carmichael, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Sir James Carmichael, 2nd Earl of Hyndford and Lady Elizabeth Maitland, on 24 January 1716/17 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He died on 21 September 1753 at Elie House, Elie, Fife, Scotland.2 He was buried at Elie Church, Elie, Fife, Scotland.2 His will (dated 18 August 1746) was probated on 28 August 1754.2
