     Sir George Shirley, 1st Bt. was the son of John Shirley and Jane Lovett.2 He married, secondly, Dorothy Wroughton, daughter of Sir Thomas Wroughton.3 He married, firstly, Frances Berkeley, daughter of Henry Berkeley, 7th Lord Berkeley and Katherine Howard, circa 21 February 1586/87.1 He died on 27 April 1622.3
     Sir George Shirley, 1st Bt. was created 1st Baronet Shirley, of Staunton Harold [England] on 22 May 1611.3
