     Captain Stanes Geoffrey Bates was born on 2 June 1884.1 He was the son of Gilbert Thompson Bates and Charlotte Thaxter Warren.1 He died on 13 May 1915 at age 30, killed in action.1
     Captain Stanes Geoffrey Bates fought in the First World War. He was Adjutant of the North Somerset Yeomanry.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 7th Hussars.1
