     Sir Thomas Stanley, 4th Bt. was born on 27 September 1670.¹ He was the son of Sir Edward Stanley, 3rd Bt. and Elizabeth Bosvile.¹ He married, firstly, Elizabeth Patten, daughter of Thomas Patten, on 16 August 1688.¹ He married, secondly, Margaret Holcroft, daughter of Thomas Holcroft, after 1694.¹ He died on 7 May 1714 at age 43.¹
     Sir Thomas Stanley, 4th Bt. succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Stanley, of Bickerstaffe, co. Lancs [E., 1627] on 16 October 1671.¹

     Elizabeth Patten was the daughter of Thomas Patten.¹ She married Sir Thomas Stanley, 4th Bt., son of Sir Edward Stanley, 3rd Bt. and Elizabeth Bosvile, on 16 August 1688.¹ She died in 1694.¹
     Her married name became Stanley.

     Lieutenant Warden Beresford Annesley was born on 15 June 1882.¹ He was the son of Richard Grove Annesley and Sara Augusta Ruth Bolster.¹
     Lieutenant Warden Beresford Annesley was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 3rd Battalion, East Kent Regiment.¹

     Sir Edward Stanley, 11th Earl of Derby was born on 17 September 1689.² He was the son of Sir Thomas Stanley, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Patten.¹ He married Elizabeth Hesketh, daughter of Robert Hesketh and Elizabeth Spencer, on 14 September 1714.² He died on 22 February 1776 at age 86.²
     Sir Edward Stanley, 11th Earl of Derby held the office of Vice-Admiral of Lancashire between 1712 and 1776.² He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Stanley, of Bickerstaff, co. Lancs [E., 1627] on 7 May 1714.² He held the office of High Sheriff of Lancashire in 1723.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Lancashire between 1727 and 1736.² He succeeded to the title of 11th Earl of Derby [E., 1485] on 1 February 1735/36.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire between 1742 and 1757.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire between 1771 and 1776.² He also had six daughters.²

     Elizabeth Hesketh was the daughter of Robert Hesketh and Elizabeth Spencer.¹ She married Sir Edward Stanley, 11th Earl of Derby, son of Sir Thomas Stanley, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Patten, on 14 September 1714.¹ She died on 24 February 1776.¹
     From 14 September 1714, her married name became Stanley. As a result of her marriage, Elizabeth Hesketh was styled as Countess of Derby on 1 February 1736.

     John Charles Annesley was born on 28 October 1819.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Arthur Grove Annesley and Elizabeth Mahon.¹ He married Belinda Murphy in 1870.¹ He died on 4 January 1904 at age 84.¹

     From 1870, her married name became Annesley.¹

     John Annesley was born in 1871.¹ He was the son of John Charles Annesley and Belinda Murphy.¹ He married June (?).¹ He died on 10 February 1951.¹

     Rt. Hon. James Smith-Stanley was born on 7 January 1716/17. He was the son of Sir Edward Stanley, 11th Earl of Derby and Elizabeth Hesketh.¹ He married Lucy Smith, daughter of Hugh Smith and Dorothy Barrett-Lennard, on 17 March 1746/47.¹ He died on 1 June 1771 at age 54.¹
     Rt. Hon. James Smith-Stanley was styled as Lord Strange, incorrectly.¹ He was baptised with the name of James Stanley.¹ He was educated at Westminster College, Westminster, London, England.¹ He emigrated to Leyden University, Leyden, The Netherlands.¹ On 1741 his name was legally changed to James Smith-Stanley by Act of Parliament.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Lancashire between 1741 and 1771.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire between 1757 and 1771.¹ He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1762.¹

     Lucy Smith was the daughter of Hugh Smith and Dorothy Barrett-Lennard.¹ She married Rt. Hon. James Smith-Stanley, son of Sir Edward Stanley, 11th Earl of Derby and Elizabeth Hesketh, on 17 March 1746/47.¹ She died on 5 February 1759.¹
     From 17 March 1746/47, her married name became Smith-Stanley.¹
