     Donald 'Gormeson' Macdonald, 6th of Sleat was the son of Donald 'Gorm' Macdonald, 5th of Sleat and Mary Macleod.1 He married Mary Maclean, daughter of Hector 'Mor' Maclean of Duart and Morven. He died in 1573.1
     Donald 'Gormeson' Macdonald, 6th of Sleat also went by the nick-name of Donald 'Gormeson' (or in English, son of his father, the 'Blue-eyed' one).1

     Donald 'Gorm' Macdonald, 5th of Sleat was the son of Donald 'Gruamach' Macdonald, 4th of Sleat and Catherine Macdonald of Clanranald.1 He married Mary Macleod, daughter of Roderick Macleod. He died after 1546 at England.1

     Donald 'Gruamach' Macdonald, 4th of Sleat was the son of Donald 'Gallach' Macdonald, 3rd of Sleat and unknown daughter of Islay and The Glens.1 He married, firstly, Catherine Macdonald of Clanranald.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Macleod of Lewis.1 He died in 1539 at Eilean Donan Castle, shot from the battlements.1
     Donald 'Gruamach' Macdonald, 4th of Sleat also went by the nick-name of Donald 'Gruamach' (or in English, 'the Gloomy').1 In 1539 he besieged Eilean Donan Castle in support of his claim to the Lordship of the Isles.1

     Donald 'Gallach' Macdonald, 3rd of Sleat was the son of Uisdean Macdonald, 1st of Sleat and Finvola of Ardnamurchan.1 He married unknown daughter of Islay and The Glens, daughter of John of Islay and The Glens. He died in 1506, killed by his half-brother, Archibald.1
     Donald 'Gallach' Macdonald, 3rd of Sleat also went by the nick-name of Donald 'Gallach' (or in English, 'Foreigner', because of his Caithness education).1

     Uisdean Macdonald, 1st of Sleat was born illegitimately.1 He was the son of Alexander Macdonald, 10th Earl of Ross and unknown daughter Roy.1 He married Finvola of Ardnamurchan, daughter of MacIan of Ardnamurchan. He died in 1498.1
     Uisdean Macdonald, 1st of Sleat was also known as Hugh Macdonald.1 On 28 June 1469 he had a charter of the lands of Sleat in the Isle of Skye, Skirhough in South Uist and Benbecula in North Uist, from his half-brother, John Macdonald, 11th Earl of Ross.1

     Angus 'Mor' Macdonald, Lord of the Isles was the son of Donald, Lord of the Isles and unknown daughter Stewart.1 He married unknown daughter Campbell, daughter of Sir Colin Campbell of Lochow. He died circa 1296.1
     Angus 'Mor' Macdonald, Lord of the Isles gained the title of Lord of the Isles.1 Angus 'Mor' Macdonald, Lord of the Isles also went by the nick-name of Angus 'Mor' (or in English, 'the Elder').1 In 1263 Battle of Largs.1 In 1266 he became a vassal of the Scottish Crown under the 1266 Treaty of Perth between Magnus IV, King of Norway and Alexander III, King of Scotland.1 In 1291/92 he supported Robert Bruce's claim to the Scottish throne.1

     Ranald, Lord of the Isles was the son of Somerled, Thane of Argyll and Ragnhild (?).1 He married unknown daughter (?). He died in 1207.1
     He inherited Islay and Kintyre, and took Bute, Arran and Gamoran (located between Ardnamurchan and Glenelg) from his brother Angus.1 He was styled as Lord of the Isles in 1180.1
