Lady Philippa Sydney was the daughter of Robert Sydney, 1st Earl of Leicester and Barbara Gamage.1 She married Sir John Hobart, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Henry Hobart, 1st Bt. and Dorothy Bell.1 She died on 24 September 1620 at London, England.1 She was buried on 5 October 1620 at Blickling, Norfolk, England.1

Robert Sydney, 1st Earl of Leicester was born on 19 November 1563.2 He was the son of Sir Henry Sydney and Lady Mary Dudley.2 He married, firstly, Barbara Gamage, daughter of John Gamage, on 23 September 1584.3 He married, secondly, Sarah Blount, daughter of William Blount, on 25 April 1625.3 He died on 13 July 1626 at age 62.3
Robert Sydney, 1st Earl of Leicester was educated at Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Glamorgan between 1584 and 1586.3 He was invested as a Knight in 1586.3 He held the office of Governor of Flushing, Low Countries between 1588 and 1616.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Glamorgan in 1593.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kent from 1597 to 1598.3 He was created 1st Baron Sydney of Penshurst, co.
