     Admiral Hon. Edmund Sexton Pery Knox was born on 21 July 1787.1 He was the son of Thomas Knox, 1st Earl of Ranfurly and Hon. Diana Jane Pery.2 He married Jane Sophia Hope-Vere, daughter of William Hope-Vere and Sophia Corrie, on 3 July 1813.1 He died on 24 March 1867 at age 79.1
     He gained the rank of Admiral.1

     Thomas Knox, 1st Earl of Ranfurly was born on 5 August 1754.1 He was the son of Thomas Knox, 1st Viscount Northland of Dungannon and Hon. Anne Vesey.2 He married Hon. Diana Jane Pery, daughter of Edmond Sexten Pery, 1st and last Viscount Pery of Newtown-Pery and Hon. Elizabeth Vesey, on 2 June 1785.1 He died on 26 April 1840 at age 85.1
     He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Welles of Dungannon, co. Tyrone [I., 1781] on 5 November 1818.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Northland of Dungannon, co. Tyrone [I., 1791] on 5 November 1818.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Tyrone.1 He was created 1st Baron Ranfurly of Ramphorlie, co. Renfrew [U.K.] on 6 July 1826.1 He was created 1st Earl of Ranfurly [Ireland] on 14 September 1831.1

     Hon. Diana Jane Pery was the daughter of Edmond Sexten Pery, 1st and last Viscount Pery of Newtown-Pery and Hon. Elizabeth Vesey.2 She married Thomas Knox, 1st Earl of Ranfurly, son of Thomas Knox, 1st Viscount Northland of Dungannon and Hon. Anne Vesey, on 2 June 1785.3 She died on 24 November 1839.3
      Her married name became Knox. As a result of her marriage, Hon. Diana Jane Pery was styled as Viscountess Northland of Dungannon on 5 November 1818. As a result of her marriage, Hon. Diana Jane Pery was styled as Countess of Ranfurly on 14 September 1831.
