John Hamilton, Master of Bargeny was the son of John Hamilton, 2nd Lord Bargeny and Lady Margaret Cuninghame.2 He married Jean Sinclair, daughter of Sir Robert Sinclair, 3rd Bt., on 19 June 1688.2 He died circa March 1690, without male issue.2 He was buried on 27 March 1690 at St. Gile's Church, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2
