     Helen Craig was born circa 1671.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Craig, 5th of Riccarton.1 She married Hon. William Carmichael, son of John Carmichael, 1st Earl of Hyndford and Beatrix Drummond, on 17 April 1709.1 She died on 29 December 1759.2
     From 17 April 1709, her married name became Carmichael.1

     John Carmichael, 4th Earl of Hyndford was born on 5 May 1710.1 He was the son of Hon. William Carmichael and Helen Craig.1 He married Janet Grant, daughter of William Grant, Lord Prestongrange and Grizel Millar, on 16 January 1749.1 He died on 21 December 1787 at age 77, without issue.1
     He was a practising Advocate in 1737.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Carmichael, of Westraw and Hyndford, co. Lanark [N.S., 1627] on 19 July 1767.2 He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Inglisberry and Nemphlar [S., 1701] on 19 July 1767.1 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Hyndford [S., 1701] on 19 July 1767.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Carmichael of Carmichael [S., 1701] on 19 July 1767.1

     Janet Grant was the daughter of William Grant, Lord Prestongrange and Grizel Millar.1,2 She married John Carmichael, 4th Earl of Hyndford, son of Hon. William Carmichael and Helen Craig, on 16 January 1749.1 She died on 7 July 1818, without issue.2 She was also reported to have died on 6 July 1818.1
     From 16 January 1749, her married name became Carmichael.1 After her marriage, Janet Grant was styled as Countess of Hyndford on 19 July 1767.

William Grant, Lord Prestongrange1

     William Grant, Lord Prestongrange was born on 23 April 1701.2 He was the son of Sir Francis Grant of Monymusk, 1st Bt. and Jean Meldrum.3 He was baptised on 4 May 1701 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He married Grizel Millar, daughter of Reverend unknown Millar.3 He died on 3 May 1764 at age 63.3
     He was a practising Advocate in 1722.3 He held the office of Lord Advocate between 1746 and 1754.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Elgin Burghs in 1747.3 He was styled as Lord Prestongrange [Scottish Law Lord] in 1754.1 He held the office of Lord of Session [Scotland] in 1754.1

     James Carmichael was the son of Hon. William Carmichael and Helen Craig.1 He married Janet Clerk, daughter of Sir John Clerk of Penicuik, 2nd Bt., on 16 April 1750.1 He died on 24 January 1784, without issue.1
     He was a practising Writer to the Signet in 1741.1
