John Carmichael, 1st Earl of Hyndford1

     John Carmichael, 1st Earl of Hyndford was born on 28 February 1638.2 He was the son of William Carmichael, Master of Carmichael and Lady Grizel Douglas.3 He married Beatrix Drummond, daughter of David Drummond, 3rd Lord Maderty and Lady Beatrix Graham, on 9 October 1669.2 He died on 20 September 1710 at age 72.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Carmichael, of Westraw and Hyndford, co. Lanark [N.S., 1627] on 29 November 1672.1 He held the office of Commissioner of the Privy Seal in 1689.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1689.2 He held the office of High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1690.2 He held the office of High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland between 1694 and 1699.2 He held the office of Secretary of State in 1696.2 He was created 1st Viscount of Inglisberry and Nemphlar [Scotland] on 25 June 1701.2 He was created 1st Earl of Hyndford [Scotland] on 25 June 1701.2 He was created 1st Baron Carmichael of Carmichael [Scotland] on 25 June 1701.2 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 25 July 1701.2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4

     Jane Lucas married Field Marshal Richard Molesworth, 3rd Viscount Molesworth of Swords, son of Robert Molesworth, 1st Viscount Molesworth of Swords and Hon. Laetitia Coote.2 She died on 1 April 1742.2
     She lived at Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 Her married name became Molesworth. After her marriage, Jane Lucas was styled as Viscountess Molesworth of Swords on 17 February 1726.

     Mary Jenney Ussher was born in 1728.3 She was the daughter of Venerable William Ussher and Mary Jenney.1,4 She married Field Marshal Richard Molesworth, 3rd Viscount Molesworth of Swords, son of Robert Molesworth, 1st Viscount Molesworth of Swords and Hon. Laetitia Coote, on 7 February 1743/44.5 She died on 6 May 1763 at London, EnglandG, burnt to death in a house fire, along with her daughters, Melosina and Mary and her brother, Arthur.2
     After her marriage, Mary Jenney Ussher was styled as Viscountess Molesworth of Swords on 7 February 1743/44. From 7 February 1743/44, her married name became Molesworth.
