     Margaret Menzies was the daughter of Alexander Menzies of Culterallers.1 She married, firstly, John Hamilton of Pencaitland, younger, son of James Hamilton, Lord Pencaitland and Catherine Denholm.1 She married, secondly, Hon. William Carmichael, son of Sir John Carmichael, 1st Earl of Hyndford and Hon. Beatrix Drummond.1
     Her married name became Carmichael.1 Her married name became Hamilton.1

     Hon. William Carmichael was born in 1671.2 He was the son of Sir John Carmichael, 1st Earl of Hyndford and Hon. Beatrix Drummond.1,2 He married, secondly, Margaret Menzies, daughter of Alexander Menzies of Culterallers.1 He married, firstly, Helen Craig, daughter of Thomas Craig of Riccartoun, on 17 April 1709.2 He died on 29 December 1759.2
     Hon. William Carmichael was a practising Advocate in 1695.2 He was a practising King's Solicitor in 1701.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lanark [Scotland] between 1702 and 1707.2 He lived at Skirling, Scotland.2

     Mary Kinloch was the daughter of Sir Francis Kinloch of Gilmerton, 3rd Bt..1 She married Alexander Hamilton, son of James Hamilton, Lord Pencaitland and Catherine Denholm, after 31 January 1747.1 She died on 24 February 1772.1
     From after 31 January 1747, her married name became Hamilton.1

     Mary Hamilton was the daughter of Alexander Hamilton and Mary Kinloch.1 She married William Nisbet of Dirleton on 2 February 1747.1 She died on 13 March 1797.1
     From 2 February 1747, her married name became Nisbet.1 In 1777 she succeeded in the estates of Biel and Presmennan, from her cousin, 5th Lord Belhaven and Stenton.1 She lived at Pencaitland, East Lothian, Scotland.1
     She had a son and two daughters.1

     Sir Archibald Hamilton of Rosehall, 1st Bt. was a merchant at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was created 1st Baronet Hamilton, of Rosehall, co. Lanark [Nova Scotia] on 10 April 1703.1
