He was Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) (Flints).2 He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) Harwich , Captain Scots Gds, Honour Colonel 6th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps in 1860.2 He was married 2nd Alice Henrietta (died without issue 7 Aug 1884), 2nd daughter of Captain Hugh Berners, RN, JP, Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) on 9 July 1872.2

Hon. Henry Pakenham and Eliza Catherine Sandford, on 15 September 1864.3 She married, secondly, Hugh Henry Erskine, son of Sir David Erskine of Cambo, 1st Bt. and Jane Silence Williams, on 2 January 1866.3 She died on 8 June 1892.3 She was also reported to have died on 8 June 1932.1
