     Lt.-Col. John Ramsay was born on 14 January 1811.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Hon. John Ramsay and Mary Delise.1 He married Kate Sinclair Laing, daughter of David Laing, on 28 December 1852.1 He died on 23 August 1856 at age 45, without issue.1
     Lt.-Col. John Ramsay gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Honourable East India Company Service.1
