     He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of Flying Officer in the Auxiliaryl Air Force.1 He fought in the Battle of Britain.1

     Elizabeth Stephenson Douglas was the daughter of Samuel Douglas.1 She married Sir Robert Abercromby of Birkenbog, 5th Bt., son of Sir George Abercromby of Birkenbog, 4th Bt. and Hon. Jane Ogilvy, on 22 October 1816.1 She died on 28 December 1863.1
     Her married name became Abercromby.
