Captain John Byron was born on 7 February 1756.1 He was the son of Admiral Hon. John Byron and Sophia Trevannion.2 He married, firstly, Lady Amelia Darcy, daughter of Robert Darcy, 4th Earl of Holderness and Mary Doublet, on 1 June 1779 at London, England.1 He married, secondly, Catherine Gordon, daughter of George Gordon and Catherine Innes, on 12 May 1785.1 He died on 2 August 1791 at age 35, perhaps by suicide.1
Captain John Byron also went by the nick-name of 'Mad Jack'.1 He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Guards.1
