Colin Campbell was the son of Colonel John Campbell and Katherine Claiborne.1 He married Margaret Foster, daughter of unknown Foster.1 He died on 26 January 1752 at Kingston, Jamaica.1 His will was probated on 16 April 1752.1
He lived at Jamaica.1 He matriculated at Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1720.1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1733.1 He held the office of Member of the Council [Jamaica] in 1742.1 He lived in 1748 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.1 His last will was dated 16 September 1748.

Margaret Jane Campbell was born on 28 January 1757.1 She is the daughter of Colin Campbell and Margaret Foster.1 She married Sir James Hay of Park, 5th Bt., son of William Hay and Mary Cant, on 27 October 1792 at St. Marylebone, London, England.2,1 She died in April 1837 at age 80 at Boulogne-sur-Mer, France.1
