     Benjamin Hampton was born in 1844 at Ballywilly, Kilmore, County Armagh, Ireland.2,3 He was the son of John Hampton and Jane Gray.1 He married Frances Alice Hampton, daughter of Henry Hampton and Sarah Jane Mullen, on 25 January 1877 at St. Michaels Church, Christchurch, New Zealand.4,2 He died on 9 January 1917.3 He was buried at Ellesmere Public Cemetery, Ellesmere, Canterbury, New Zealand, plot 674.3
     Benjamin and Edward Hampton immigrated to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New Zealand on the ship Mermaid, arriving on 1 January 1866.2 He was a farmer from 1880 to 1883 at Little Rakaia, Canterbury, New Zealand.2 He was a farmer after 1883 at Southbridge, Canterbury, New Zealand.2

     Edward Hampton held the office of Chairman of the Pendarves School Committee.5 Edward and Benjamin Hampton immigrated to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New Zealand on the ship Mermaid, arriving on 1 January 1866.6 He was a farmer from 1880 to 1914 at Mossgrove Farm, Pendarves, Canterbury, New Zealand, Mossgrove was 1083 acres..2
