     Thomas Hampton was born in 1853 at Ballywilly, Kilmore, County Armagh, IrelandG.2 He was the son of John Hampton and Jane Gray.3 He married Sarah Jane Hampton, daughter of Henry Hampton and Sarah Jane Mullen, in 1878.1,4 He died on 17 July 1929.5 He was buried at Ashburton Public Cemetery, Old Section, Ashburton, New ZealandG, plot 223.5
     He and Robert Hampton were a farmer at Cumbrae Farm, Pendarves, Canterbury, New ZealandG.6 Robert and Thomas and Robert Hampton immigrated to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New ZealandG, on the ship Dilharee, arriving on December 1873.7
