     Lt.-Col. Michael William Robert de Courcy, 27th Lord Kingsale was born on 26 September 1882.1 He was the son of Michael Constantine de Courcy, 26th Lord Kingsale and Emily Frances Anne de Courcy.2 He married, firstly, Constance Mary Rancé Woodhouse, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Tom Percy Woodhouse, on 15 November 1906.1 He married, secondly, Ruth Holmes, daughter of Herbert Thomas Holmes, on 4 June 1927.3 He and Ruth Holmes were divorced in 1957.3 He died on 7 November 1969 at age 87.3
     Lt.-Col. Michael William Robert de Courcy, 27th Lord Kingsale was educated at Dulwich School, Dulwich, London, England.1 He was educated at Kelly College, Tavistock, Devon, England.1 He was commissioned in 1902, in the service of the Connaught Rangers.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Tibet Mission between 1903 and 1904.1 He gained the rank of in 1904 in the service of the 32nd Sikh Pioneers, Indian Army.1 He fought in the Arbor Expedition between 1911 and 1912, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the First World War, in Mesoptoamia and Marri, and was mentioned in despatches three times.1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1 He was decorated with the Order of the White Eagel of Serbia (5th class with Swords).1 He fought in the Afghanistan Campaign between 1919 and 1920, where he was mentioned in despatches.1
He fought in the Waziristan Campaign in 1922.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 2nd Battalion Corps, Sikh Pioneers between 1927 and 1931.1 He succeeded to the title of 27th Lord Kingsale [I., c. 1340] on 24 January 1931.1

Esther Eleanor de Courcy was born on 6 December 1880.1 She was the daughter of Michael Constantine de Courcy, 26th Lord Kingsale and Emily Frances Anne de Courcy.2 She married, firstly, Alfred Charles Festing-Smith on 27 February 1900.1 She married, secondly, Reginald John Winterbotham, son of John Brend Winterbotham, on 30 November 1911.1 She died on 2 October 1957 at age 76, further issue.1
     From 27 February 1900, her married name became Festing-Smith. From 30 November 1911, her married name became Winterbotham.1
