     Sir Hugh John Dyke Acland was born on 17 January 1904 at Christchurch, New ZealandG.1,2 He was the son of Sir Hugh Thomas Dyke Acland and Evelyn Mary Ovans.1 He married Katherine Wilde Ormond, daughter of John Davies Ormond, on 12 June 1935.1 He died on 26 January 1981 at age 77 at Mount Peel, Canterbury, New ZealandG.1,2
     Sir Hugh John Dyke Acland also went by the nick-name of Jack.2 He was educated at Christ's College, Christchurch, New ZealandG.2 He was a sheep farmer.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [New Zealand] between 1942 and 1946, for Temuka.1 He was Deputy-Chairman of the New Zealand Wool Board between 1957 and 1960.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He was Chairman of the New Zealand Wool Board between 1960 and 1972.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1968.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography.2
