     Frances Sidney was born in 1531. She was the daughter of Sir William Sydney and Anne Pakenham.2 She married Thomas Radcliffe, 3rd Earl of Sussex, son of Henry Radcliffe, 2nd Earl of Sussex and Lady Elizabeth Howard, before 29 April 1555.2 She died on 9 March 1588/89.2
     From before 29 April 1555, her married name became Radcliffe. After her marriage, Frances Sidney was styled as Countess of Sussex on 17 February 1556/57. She was founder with a legacy of £5,000 of Sydney Sussex College Cambridge.2
