He married, firstly, Catherine Weir, daughter of Sir William Weir, 2nd Bt. and Christian Anstruther, on 26 July 1733. He married Lady Anne Vane, daughter of Henry Vane, 1st Earl of Darlington and Lady Grace Fitzroy, on 20 March 1745/46.1 He and Lady Anne Vane were divorced in 1757.1 He married, thirdly, Helen Dunbar, daughter of George Dunbar, on 2 April 1766. He died on 30 December 1791 at age 81.
