     William Waring Hay-Newton was born on 20 September 1795.1 He was the son of William Hay-Newton and Alicia Foster.1 He married, firstly, Jane Frances Gregson, daughter of Thomas Gregson and Elizabeth Foster, on 19 June 1821.1 He married, secondly, Jane Rattray, daughter of James Clerk Rattray, on 15 February 1844.1 He died on 15 May 1860 at age 64, without issue.1
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1 He lived at Newton, Haddington, Scotland.1
