     Sir James Dundas, Lord Arniston was born in 1620.2,3 He was the son of Sir James Dundas of Arniston.1 He married, secondly, Janet Hepburne.1 He married by contract, firstly, Marion Boyd, daughter of Robert Boyd, 7th Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock and Lady Christian Hamilton, on 12 November 1641.4,2 He died in 1679.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Midlothian.4 He was educated at St. Andrew's University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland.3 He was styled as Lord Arniston [Scottish Law Lord] in 1662.4 He held the office of Senator of the College of Justice in 1662.4 In 1663 he resigned rather than subscribe to the renunciation of the Covenant.4
