     Elizabeth Christian Dundas was born in 1801.1 She was the daughter of James Dundas and Elizabeth Graham.2 She married, secondly, Captain James Stirling, son of John Stirling, 6th of Kippendavie.1 She married, firstly, William Macdowall, son of Day Hort Macdowall and Wilhelmina Graham, on 3 July 1813.3 She died in 1884.1
      Her married name became Stirling.1 From 3 July 1813, her married name became Macdowall.

     William Macdowall was born on 2 September 1793.2 He was the son of Day Hort Macdowall and Wilhelmina Graham.3,4 He married Elizabeth Christian Dundas, daughter of James Dundas and Elizabeth Graham, on 3 July 1813.2 He died on 2 April 1836 at age 42.2
     He purchased Carruth and Cairncurran in 1820.2

     He gained the rank of Major-General and Inspector of Artillery.1
