     William Cansfield Gerard, 2nd Baron Gerard of Bryn was born on 1 June 1851.¹ He was the son of Robert Tolver Gerard, 1st Baron Gerard of Bryn and Harriet Clifton.² He married Mary Emmeline Laura Milner, daughter of Henry Beilby William Milner and Charlotte Henrietta Beresford, on 7 August 1877.¹ He died on 30 July 1902 at age 51.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 2nd Life Guards.¹ He succeeded to the title of 14th Baronet Gerard, of Bryn, co. Palatine of Lancaster [E., 1611] on 15 March 1887.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Gerard of Bryn, co. Palatine of Lancaster [U.K., 1876] on 15 March 1887.¹ He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).¹ He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the service of the Lancashire Hussars.¹

     Ursula Mackenzie was the daughter of Andrew Mackenzie.¹ She married, firstly, John Cogswell.¹ She married, secondly, Robert Guy Standish Gerard, son of Colonel Charles Robert Tolver Michael Gerard and Aimée Gwendolyn Clarke, on 16 November 1964.¹ She died in 1993.¹
      Her married name became Cogswell.¹ From 16 November 1964, her married name became Gerard.¹

     Mary Emmeline Laura Milner was the daughter of Henry Beilby William Milner and Charlotte Henrietta Beresford.² She married William Cansfield Gerard, 2nd Baron Gerard of Bryn, son of Robert Tolver Gerard, 1st Baron Gerard of Bryn and Harriet Clifton, on 7 August 1877.¹ She died on 19 February 1918.¹
      From 7 August 1877, her married name became Gerard. As a result of her marriage, Mary Emmeline Laura Milner was styled as Baroness Gerard of Bryn on 15 March 1887.
