Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir Nicholas John Hill-Norton was born on 13 July 1939.2 He is the son of Admiral Peter John Hill-Norton, Baron Hill-Norton and Margaret Eileen Linstow.1 He married Ann Jennifer Mason, daughter of Vice-Admiral Dennis Howard Mason, on 2 April 1966.2
He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.2 He was commissioned in 1957 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Navy.2 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England.2 He was educated at U.S. Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, U.S.A..2 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1991.2 He retired from the military in 1995, with the rank of Vice-Admiral.2 He was with GEC-Marconi between 1995 and 1999.2
