He and Olga Prinzessin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg were divorced on 8 February 1938. He married, secondly, Eugenie von Fortenbach, daughter of Jacob von Fortenbach and Eugenie Schmidt, on 17 November 1938 at Lindau in Bodensee, GermanyG. He died on 9 July 1945 at age 54 at Pulawy, PolandG.
     He gained the title of Prinz zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg.
