He was the son of Wilhelm Gustav Ludwig Prinz zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg and Luise Baronin von Fabrice. He married, firstly, Olga Prinzessin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg, daughter of Alfred Prinz zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg and Pauline Gräfin von Reichenbach-Lessonitz, on 22 October 1920. He and Olga Prinzessin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg were divorced on 8 February 1938. He married, secondly, Eugenie von Fortenbach, daughter of Jacob von Fortenbach and Eugenie Schmidt, on 17 November 1938 at Lindau in Bodensee, Germany. He died on 9 July 1945 at age 54 at Pulawy, Poland.
     Wolfgang Wilhelm Gustav Karl Ludwig Prinz zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg gained the title of Prinz zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg.
