     David George Crichton was born on 31 July 1914.2 He is the son of Colonel Hon. Sir George Arthur Charles Crichton and Lady Mary Augusta Dawson.2 He married, firstly, Joan Fenella Cleaver, daughter of Lt.-Col. Douglas Whyte Cleaver, on 9 August 1941.2 He married, secondly, Betty Lee, daughter of Colonel M. G. Lee, in 1994.2 He died on 22 January 1997 at age 82.2
     David George Crichton was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.2 He was a journalist with Daily Telegraph, Daily Sketch and Manchester Guardian.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Derbyshire Yeomanry (Territorial Army).2 He was with the Foreign Office, serving in Belgrade, Alexandria, La Paz, Santiago and Miami.2 He was invested as a Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) 4th Class.2 He was invested as a Lieutenant, Royal Victorian Order (L.V.O.) in 1968.1 He was Consul-General to Nice between 1970 and 1974.2 He lived at 77 Cadogan Gardens, London, England.1
