     John Saunders Gilliat was born on 24 November 1829.2 He was the son of John Kirton Gilliat and Mary Anne Saunders.2 He married Louisa Ann Fanny Babington, daughter of Mathew Babington and Frances Sykes, on 29 May 1860.2 He died on 11 February 1912 at age 82.2
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.2 He held the office of Governor of the Bank of England between 1883 and 1885.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Clapham between 1886 and 1892.1,2 He partipicated in an ordinance between 1892 and 1900; Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Widnes.2 He lived at Chorleywood Cedars, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1
