Reverend Richard Croft was born on 22 August 1808. He was the son of Sir Richard Croft, 6th Bt. and Margaret Denman. He married, firstly, Charlotte Leonora Russell on 15 October 1839. He married, secondly, Louisa Holland, daughter of Samuel Holland, in 1856. He died on 17 February 1869 at age 60.
