     Noel Erskine Ward was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 8th Gurkha Rifles, Indian Army.1 He lived in 1999 at Penrowan, New Road, Boscastle, Cornwall, England.1

     John Claude Smiley was born on 10 March 1910.2 He is the son of Major Sir John Smiley, 2nd Bt. and Valerie Champion de Crespigny.1,2 He married, firstly, Lady Cecilia Katherine Wellesley, daughter of Henry Arthur Mornington Wellesley, 3rd Earl Cowley and Clare Florence Mary Stapleton, on 4 December 1936.1 He and Lady Cecilia Katherine Wellesley were divorced in 1942.1 He married, secondly, Sheila Joyce Tollemache, daughter of Hon. Stanhope Alfred Tollemache and Elizabeth Monks, on 17 January 1947.2 He died on 22 August 1995 at age 85.2
     John Claude Smiley was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Pembroke College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Captain in the service of the Middlesex Yeomanry (Territorial Army Reserve).2

     Major Sir John Smiley, 2nd Bt. was born on 28 October 1876.3 He is the son of Sir Hugh Houston Smiley, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Anne Kerr.2 He married Valerie Champion de Crespigny, daughter of Sir Claude Champion de Crespigny, 4th Bt., on 26 November 1903.3 He died on 13 April 1930 at age 53.3
     Major Sir John Smiley, 2nd Bt. gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 4th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.3 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900.3 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Northern Ireland Imperial Yeomanry.3 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Smiley, of Drumalis, Larne, co. Antrim and Gallowhill, Paisley, Renfrewshire [U.K., 1903] on 3 March 1909.3 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers).3 He fought in the First World War.3
